September 26 was the busiest day of Major League Eating's fall season, with three championships in three states.

Williamsburg: 40 pancakes

In his first World Pancake Eating Championship, Joey Chestnut ate 40 pancakes in 10 minutes. That broke the record of 35 that Geoff Esper set at the first edition of the contest in 2025. Max Stanford was second with 28 and Nick Wehry third with 27. Miki Sudo was fifth.

The win paid Chestnut $2,500 from a $5,000 purse at the Williamsburg Pancake Festival. It came exactly a week after he won the World Poutine Eating Championship in Toronto with 21¼ pounds.

The week in eating. Every Monday.

Springfield: 51 Cozy Dogs

At the Mother Road Festival in Springfield, Illinois, Patrick Bertoletti ate 51 Cozy Dogs in 10 minutes, a new world record. Darrien Thomas was second with 37½. It was Bertoletti's second record of the month, after 46 sliders in Boston on September 12.

Lewisville: 86 tamales

At the World Tamale Eating Championship in Lewisville, Texas, James Webb won with 86 tamales, well clear of Derek Hendrickson's 55. Chestnut's record of 96, set at the same contest in 2025, still stands.
