Shutkever takes back the burrito record, then sets two more

Leah Shutkever had held the record for fastest time to eat a burrito since 2019. Her best mark was 32.35 seconds, set in February 2022 on the Italian TV show Lo Show dei Record in Milan. Later that year, Miki Sudo took it from her with 31.47 seconds.
On August 4, Shutkever went to Guinness headquarters in London to get it back. She finished in 30.75 seconds, 0.72 seconds faster than Sudo and 1.6 seconds faster than her own old best.
Three in one day
The burrito was the last of three attempts that day. First she ate eight churros in one minute. Then she ate 613 grams of strawberries in one minute. Both are now Guinness records.
Guinness announced all three on September 7. The new titles bring her total to 42 Guinness World Records.
From architecture to the record book
Shutkever trained and worked as an architect before eating took over. Her record-breaking started with a YouTube challenge channel. After she posted an attempt online, she was invited to try it officially on TV in front of a Guinness adjudicator. She has been breaking records ever since, and still posts restaurant challenges every week.
The rivalry with Sudo is one of the few in the sport that runs across both worlds. Sudo is the queen of Major League Eating, with 12 straight Nathan's women's titles. Shutkever is the most decorated record-setter on Guinness's side. The burrito record has now changed hands between them twice.
